Preparation work

— Choose a topic you would like to talk about in front of the class. (for example: a report on a book you have read, a film you have seen, a site on the internet you often log on to, an interesting person you have known for a long time or you have met lately, your favourite hobby …)

— Bring an object or photos to illustrate your topic!  You may also illustrate your presentation with Powerpoint slides, play a CD, show a short extract from a video.

— Prepare what you want to say (you can resort to a few notes). Remember to check the pronunciation / stressing of the words you are not very familiar with in your dictionary! (15 words at least!) The following website will help you: http://www.howjsay.com/

— Rehearse your presentation at home. It should not exceed 5 minutes.

Performance

— First, give a brief outline of the topic of your tribune (or make your classmates guess what your tribune might be about by bringing  an object or photo)

— Then, go into detail

— In conclusion, explain why you chose this topic.

The audience’s reactions

— Your classmates may ask you questions, comment on what you have said, express their approval or disapproval

— They may also comment on your performance as a speaker.
