Well, I was just about to write that it seemed like Obama has become America’s #1 cheerleader. But, then, I read an article which suggested that he should not assume such a gleeful posture at troubling times like these. Rather, it was suggested, he should embody the balance of a sober nation and a hopeful future.  I guess he’s been successful at doing that – or, at least, at doing what the American people want.  A poll reached today shows that he has a 63% approval rate, despite these difficult economic times.  To read more about what the polls suggest, click here.
Meanwhile, he’s had a busy month. It’s true that the economic news is getting all of the headlines, but here’s a short list, according to Newsweek, of his other accomplishments: more pay equity for women, universal health insurance for children, higher fuel-economy standards for autos (That will help California’s desire for stronger emission standards!), major investment in inter-urban trains, electronic medial records, new charter schools, money for college loans, and help to homeowners facing loss of houses. Plus, he’s in the process of reviewing many of the Bush policies.
Tonight he’ll make a major speech to both houses of Congress and the American public. Watch for it! It will be interesting to see if the good will continues….
