The January and February Celebrations
1. Martin Luther King Day
On the third Monday of January, we celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King. He was born on 15th of January in 1929, consequently the celebration is on the third Monday of January. Martin Luther King Jr. is one the most famous politicians in the U.S.A. He fought for peace between blacks and whites during the 50′s and 60′s. He was killed by a white man.
2.Inauguration day’s
We celebrate it on January, 20th, following a Presidential election. This day is celebrated every four years by the government, in Washington D.C.–the capital of U.S.A. If the holiday is on a Sunday the celebration takes place on the 21th of January.

3. Valentine’s day
It is celebrated on the 14th of Febuary each year. It is about love, love stories, etc… but about friendship too. Everyone gives a pink flower to his or herlover. In the Antiquity calendar, the 14th of February is associated with fertility. The name « Valentine » comes from the name of three saints who are all called Valentine. The date is fixed on the14th of February and that’s why Valentine’s day is called like this.
