It is a mammal. He’s got a grey and brown back and a white stomach. Its tail is long and flat. It has very good eyes, it can see at night time as good as a human in the daytime. Its fur is very soft. Its life expectancy is from 5 to 12 years. He sleeps during the day and lives at night.
It’s very friendly and curious. There are many species of flying squirrel all differing by their colours and sizes (there are 32 species of flying squirrel). This animal is an endangered species.

The flying squirrel jumps from trees to trees will his patagium (the skin that stretches from its arms to its legs ). The tail helps for the direction. It can « fly » over an area of 20 metres.
It lives in the forests of South America and also in Canada. It lives with others flying squirrels, a dead tree is a good house for him.
It can eat everything : insects , littles dead birds , mushrooms , nuts , buds, fruit and eggs .

Brief History of Petra
Petra is an antique city (the end of VIIth century AD) . It’s now located in Jordania between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea . In VIth century AD, Petra was inhabitated by the Nabataeans tribe. When the Nabateans lived in Petra, the city was very rich because it was a good location on the caravans trading routes. In VIIIth century AD, the trading routes changed and many earthquakes led the citizens to abandon the city. Petra was rediscovered by the Swiss explorer John William Burgon in 1812. On the 6th of December in 1985 Petra was added to the Unesco World Heritage Site. This magical place inspired the cartoonist Hergé in an Tintin adventure entitled Coke in Stock but also director Stephen Spielberg for the film Indianna Jones and The Last cCusade.

Tombs
Petra is famous for its many tombs dug into the mountain. The majority is royal tombs and they look like temples with floors opening onto a big interior room with the sarcophagus. The tombs are sculpted on the front.

The most famous tomb is the one of Kaznah al-Faraun (the Nabataean king of the Ist century AD). It is also called » the treasure of the pharaohs » because a very old legend says that the urn on top contains a treasure.

The monastery (or Deir)
The monastery has the largest entrance. To go to the monastery, you have to climb 788 steps but the view is really beautiful. In spite of its name it was a tomb. We call it a monastery because there are many crosses written on it and friars used to live in it the XIIIth century.
The Siq
We are not shure of the date of the constuction of the Siq but it was maybe around the Ist century. The Siq is the unique way to go to Petra. Water has dug a » tunnel « . The sun can’t get in so it’s cold. In the middle of the Siq there is an altar diq in the rock, it is very nice, the decorations are complicated.

Just a little word to say a temporary good-bye. As you all know,I’ll be operated on my feet tomorrow April, 1st (it’s not a joke!) and I won’t be coming back before the end of June. So I wish you all a nice end of term at school. I hope you’ll be allowed in the following year and have great holidays, wherever you may go. See you soon! I’m going to miss you all!

Water polo is a team sport water with two teams of thirteen players. It is an Olympic sport. Arbitration is quite difficult because we do not see what is happening under the water. The men and the women don’t play together. The ball must not be under the water. The ball must be held in one hand. We can not rely on the edge of the bassin. Manuel Estiarte is the best water polo player.
The water polo champions at the last Olympic Games were the Italians. Watch some water polo demonstrations below, it’s a great sport, isn’t?
