Did you know that Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Scotland and in Great Britain ? The west coast has long promontories separated by fjordlike sea lochs. The east coast is not so heavily indented, with a series of long sandy beaches. It also has several significant estuaries. The Atlantic Ocean borders the west coast and the North Sea the east coast. Kintyre is a peninsula in western Scotland. volcanic activity formed Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, as well as many other hills. The oldest rocks in Scotland were formed million years ago!
