Myfirst day at school…
I would like to give my impressions about my first day in high school. First, I must say I was scared (I can say I was terrified !). I was paralysed with fear. I felt excited but I knew that it was a good and interesting way to start my new life. I was panic-stricken and thinking of high school gave me goose pimples.
My best friend saw me and she said : « There’s no reason why you should be so terrified. Try not to think of it anymore and smile. O.K. ? Be brave. »
And suddenly I wasn’t frightened any more and stress left me. I felt courageous again !
Three hours later, I felt amazed and flabbergasted : I didn’t expect students’ life to be so wonderful. It took my breath away. I was astounded ! It was hard to believe : some hours ago, I wanted to go back home and now, I didn’t feel like leaving at all ! I was happy and I felt free ! I had a feeling of satisfaction and I beamed with joy.
I believe now that it was stupid to react the way I had reacted but that’s me : always overreacting. Now; I feel happy and comfortable in my school and when we think of this first day at Désiré Nisard, my best friend and I, we burst out laughing. For today I can’t imagine my life in any other high school !

I woke up…
I woke up in the morning at quarter past six on Wednesday September 2nd for a new year at school. I was scared. I had breakfast and then I went to the bus stop. I got into the bus and that was it : I was on my way to a totally new world to me.
Later, I arrived at the high school and I was struck ; the school looked awesome ! I found my friends and everybody felt the same. We were all very impatient. Suddenly the bell rang and we had to follow our new teachers. I realised then that there was only one of my former friends with me but I was O.K.
At ten, we had break and I met all my friends in the yard. We spoke of our new teachers and the ones we had not met yet….We finally returned to our classrooms and did all the work related to timetables, insurances, and so on.
When the bell rang again at twelve, I left the school for the first time and I was delighted. I had the feeling that it would be a great and fulfilling year.

My first day…
My first day at school was good, I didn’t wear special clothes because I thought it was a regular day. I wasn’t tense or nervous although I was arriving in a new school. I knew my friends from last year would be there and I would meet new people since I enjoy making new friends even though I’m shy. With my friends, we spoke about our holidays. I was happy to see them again but I missed my holidays too;
The first time I went into the building, I got lost because I didn’t know the place well. My hometeacher was absent so my history teacher replaced her. He dictated us about our timetables and that was different. In secondary school, we were given our timetables on sheets of paper; I noticed that we start at one p.m. every day. I also noticed that there was no art class. I was disappointed because I think it’s interesting to learn how to draw.
As a conclusion, it was a « normal » day but also a surprising one.

For my first day …
For my first day at school this year, I was terrified and excited too because it was a new experience.
To begin, we came into the high school and i immediately looked for my class. I was very excited because I didn’t know anything about it. Then I found it and I felt happy because some of my friends were in it. Actually, I was afraid I would be on my own and would not know anyone in there. On the other hand, i was happy to meet my new classmates.
Then we all went to our classroom and we met our hometeacher. She gave us our timetables and I was satisfied because it was a great timetable. Very convenient too. Then we were given our books, forms to fill in, etc… And finally we visited our school. Our teacher organised a tour and showed us the different parts of our new school. I felt amazed because it looked much bigger than my « collège ».
To conclude, My first day at the high school was a mixture of different emotions and I liked that !

This year…
This year I was in the fifth form. The day before I wondered if it would be well, if the people would be nice. So I began to feel tense and a little nervous. Therefore I went to bed and waited for the next day.
The morning of my first day at the high school the pressure grew bigger and bigger. Anyway, I had to go there, although I didn’t feel like going at all. Thus my father drove me to school and I finally discovered my new class.
Satisfaction overcame me when I saw my friends’names on the list of my class. And tension slowly left me…
Then I entered the classroom and met my new friends. The hometeacher arrived : she looked nice and kind. She explained various things such as rules and regulations and also the goal of our next three years here and what the A-levels were about. I stopped to panic rapidly. And in the end, I was quite happy with this day.
On the whole, I have to say I have never experienced a « bad first day » at school and that one was not an exception;

How did I feel ?
My first day at the high school meant the end of the summer holidays more than the beginning of my new school education. Of course, I didn’t want to go to school that day more than any other day but deep inside, I knew I had to. You might call a duty, even though some say it is a right. I had to go and discover my new school while fighting my fear of the unknown.
So in September, when sad fall takes over joyful summer, I had to go back to school all over again. I remember I was glad that my new environment was not too disturbing to me. This high school was almost the same as my former secondary school. I mean obviously I had to locate the lockers and to get to know where the classrooms were, but the global organisation was not so different. Most of my classmates were the same as well. Luckily too, my hometeacher was the same as last year so it felt nice not to get used to a new one.
On that first morning at school, we were given our timetables and our books. Our hometeacher also gave us some advice on homework and warned us about the necessity to work on a regular basis. These first four hours were exhausting because I had to get used to school again but I felt happy all the same.

Growing…
I have grown in one day
This day was a Monday
A lot of changes took place
When my first day at high school began
Pupils were taller
Unlike the « college » ones who were smaller
But unfortunately thos pupils I didn’t know
I was shy so…
The first day at school I was messy
But wit the time, i was more tidy;
I liked my new teachers
Who were some of my father’s
My first night in my bedroom school
Was ever so cool !
I was frightened
But everything went well,
And then our first lesson was Biology
Boy, was I lucky !
In fact the first days were difficult and hard
But time goes by and i’m glad
I came here to study and grow up and up.
