Savoir lire une date :

Une année se lit en deux temps ; d’abord les 2 premiers chiffres puis les 2 derniers :

1998 = 19 (nineteen) 98 (ninety-eight) MAIS 1804 = eighteen “o” four

sauf pour :

1900 = 19 (nineteen) 00 (hundred) l’an 2000 = year 2 thousand

1200 = 12 (twelve) 00 (hundred) 2002 = two thousand and two

Savoir utiliser les bonnes prépositions :

On + jour = On Monday

On + ordinal (the nb^th ) = On the 11^th

On + ordinal of + mois (+ année) = On the 21^st of December 1978

In + mois (+ année) = In April (1586)

In + année = In 1983

utiliser ces connaissances pour parler de la date :

Today is the 14^th of September 1998. Homework for the 12^th of October.
