Dear H1 students,
You are in Miami, in the USA. Right now, you are sitting at the table of a famous restaurant there : the Grand Lux Café and the waiter just brought you a menu.
1°) Read the menu and prepare questions for the waiter as you want more details about “appetitzers”, “pan and grill”, “vegetables” and desserts.
2°) Decide what you are going to eat for your starter, main course and dessert.
In the comments section, write down 3 questions for the waiter and tell us what you are going to eat !
Enjoy your meal !

Dear students,
We are starting a study about shopaholism and “Buy Nothing Day”.
As an appetizer, watch the trailer with subtitles of the film called “Confessions of a Shopaholic”
confessions-of-a-shopaholic-2009-trailer-f93819.html
and write and answer these questions on your notebook.
- What ‘magic’ is she referring to?
Stores / women / credit cards / shoes
- Her ___ is made by Gucci.
belt / dress / bag / bloomwood
- Her heart goes like warm butter when she sees ___.
a store / warm toast / someone cute / a guy
- Where does she get a job?
At a bookshop / At a magazine / At a savings bank / At a store
- Which language does she claim to speak?
Prada / French / Finnish / Shopping
This is the plot of the film : This romantic comedy was based on the novels ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’ and ‘Shopaholic Takes Manhattan’ by Sophie Kinsella.
Rebecca Bloomwood is a young woman with a dangerously unhealthy obsession with shopping which has left her heavily in debt. After several failed attempts to cut back on her spending, she eventually gets a job (rather ironically) as a financial advisor for a magazine. Rebecca becomes famous almost overnight after writing a popular article about shoes, and uses her new-found celebrity to help solve her own financial problems. In the meantime, she begins a romantic relationship with a wealthy entrepreneur, Luke.
Enjoy!
