I spent a week’s holiday in England in Welwyn Garden City, about twenty-six miles North of London last July. I have got some relatives living there. I went with my husband and my son. My daughter had already been staying there for two weeks so as to improve her English. We flew from Limoges-Bellegarde to London-Stanted airport. It took us an hour and a half. Then our English friends gave us a lift to their house. During our stay we visited Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City. We saw such shops as John Lewis, Marks and Spencers, Debenhams. Then we went to Cambridge and visited the famous universities called colleges and walked through their beautiful gardens. The architecture of King’s college is wonderful. In front of it there are a lot of tearooms and souvenir shops. So we had scones there. It is amazing how many bicycles there were, because students cycle to college. Of course we went to London. The sales were on. So it was a good opportunity for my children to do some shopping in Oxford street and Regent’s street and Portobello road. Then we visited Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. We took the tube. We had a one day travel card. On Sunday our friends offered us a typical Sunday lunch with roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. For dessert we had strawberries and ice-cream. Wer drank French wine. When we left England, we had to go through the customs and the immigration department of Stansted airport. We knew that no bottle of water exceeding 25 cl, no scissors and no make-up was allowed in the cabin. Our bags were searched through and we had to take off our shoes and our trousers belts. We were very surprised!

I stayed at home but my holidays were “exotic” too because Daleen and Debra came at home. One is from South Africa and other from Ohio ! I put pictures on The library blog and Doris put others on her school blog. Please, look at them and put comments ! You can use English language because our spaces are “international” !
I knew about to take off shoes in the airport because Debra explained it !
Have a good last days of holidays Mrs Chatterbox !
I spent my holidays in Vaucluse and two days in Oléron Island. I read two books in english : “Two little daughters” by Mary Higgins Clark, and “Cider with Rosie” by Laurie Lee. I hope to make progress but I think it’s not !!! I understand what you write but when I’ve to write it’s difficult. Good in version and bad in theme.
Thanks for this blog.

Hello to everyone!
This is your South African friend, Daleen. I thouroughly enjoyed my visit to Europe, and in particular to Limoges and the friends there. Such a pity that I could not visit the lycée, as the pupils were enjoying their summer vacation. But hopefully there will be another opportunity in future.
As we are at the “opposite” side of the earth, it is the beginning of Spring here and everyone is looking forward to the warmer climate.
However, we are in the middle of a tests series at the university and I have ample work to do!
I shall be visiting from time to time!
Keep well.
Regards
Daleen

During my summer holidays, I worked from July 6th to 3rd August in Relais de Castelnau in the Lot where I did my training period.
When returning home, I stayed with my sister for 3 days and we canoed down the Ardèche river during 5 hours with my family.
I spent the rest of my holidays with my friends.
I tasted some very good Belgian beers which improved my knowledge in the field of drinks and which can be beneficial to me concerning catering.

During my summer holidays, from 9 july to 30 july, I went to Spain by train from Bordeaux to Irun and by bus froml Irun to Zamora. During my stay in Zamora, I was in a host family. I learnt how to speak Spainish and visited historic monuments. I ate speciality dihes like paella, tortilla.
After my stay in Spain, I went to Vendée with my family. I did nothing else than bathing in the sea. It was verry good.
I enjoyed my holidays a lot.

Last summer, I went to hendaye in the south of France with my family from two weeks. I used the car to go there. I stayed in a wooden bungalow with the view over the sea. In Hendaye I visited a sorceress’s cave, an aquarium in Biarritz, the Abbadia castle and its garden. I did branch-hanging ( a game in the trees ). And, I visited Espelette and I ate Espelette pepper chocolate. I tasted Basque cake, black cherry marmelade and I ate the traditional fish: the axoa.
My holidays was WONDERFUL!
