In the Southern States of America, black people were segregated. Martin Luther King encouraged them to protest against segregation, with non-violent actions. He organised many marches, the most famous being the march on Washington on August 28th 1963. At the end of this march Martin Luther King stepped on Lincoln Memorial and said the most famous sentence « I have a dream » in his speech. Today black people aren’t segregated anymore and the president of the U.S.A is black thanks to Martin Luther King and the march on Washington.
