The Transcontinental Railroad

The greatest technological creation of the 19th century was the Railroad which was the first communication revolution in the USA. One of the goal of President Abraham Lincoln was to create 2 rail lines to go faster from a point A to a point B. They were created from 1860 to 1869 : the first was called « The Central Pacific » which started in Sacramento and was 690 miles long, the second was called « The Union Pacific » which started in Omaha and was 1087 miles long. They permitted to cross America from the North to the South or from the West to the East, and it was very important during the American Civil War. The Railroad had an impact on the USA and set the Nation on the path to economic abundance.
