1- The Queen of England
Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926 in London.
Her parents were Prince Albert, Duke of York (future King George VI) and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. She has one little sister, Margaret.
Her birthday is officially celebrated in Britain on the 3rd Saturday of June each year. She has two birthdays: an official one and a private one.
Queen Elizabeth Il is a ‘constitutional monarch‘: she is officially the head of the state but the country is actually run by the Prime Minister, Theresa May since 13th July 2016.
The Queen lives at Buckingham Palace but she has a lot of other houses: Windsor Castle, St. James Palace, Balmoral Castle, Frogmore House, The Palace of Holyroodhouse, Sandringham House and Kensington Palace.
2- The Queen’s family
Queen Elizabeth got married to her third cousin Prince Philip in 1947.
They had 4 children: Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.
Today, Elizabeth and Philip have 8 grandchildren (William, Harry, Peter, Zara, Beatrice, Eugenie, Louise and James) and 5 great grandchildren (Mia, Savannah, Isla, George and Charlotte).
The future heirs to the throne, after Queen Elizabeth must be her son Prince Charles, then her Grandson Prince William, and finally her great Grandson Prince George.
