Benjamin Britten was born in Lowestoft 22nd November 1913.
He composed his first works at the age of five!
When he was eleven Britten met and studied Franck Bridge, a composer.
In 1930, Britten went to the Royal College of Music to study piano and composition.
One of his first jobs was composing music for documentary films.
Britten went to the USA in 1939 with his friend the tenor Peter Pears. He composed a War Requiem.
When Britten came back to England, he composed one of his most important work Peter Grimes.
He died in Alderburg 4th December 1976.
