Rosa Parks est née le 4 février à Tuskgee en Alabama et est décédée le 24 octobre 2005, elle était une militante afro-américaine qui a défendu les droits civiques, elle a eu un grand rôle pour l’égalité raciale. Petite, sa mère institutrice lui a appris les valeurs de l’égalité et de liberté. Elle était à l’origine d’une grande campagne nationale contre les agressions sexuelles sur les femmes noires. Rosa Parks alors couturière se fait connaître le 1er décembre 1955, en pleine ségrégation ayant courageusement refusé de céder sa place à un homme blanc dans un bus, comme l’a fait Claudette Calvin à 15 ans 9 mois plus tôt. Elle fut arrêtée condamnée à payer une amende de 15 dollars, après avoir fait appel de ce jugement un pasteur nommé Martin Luther King a protesté en lançant un boycott contre la compagnie de bus qui durera 381 jours. Le 13 novembre 1956 la cour suprême a retiré la loi ségrégationniste dans les bus. Pendant ces événements, Rosa Parks et son mari ont perdu leur travail et ont eu du mal à retrouver du travail.
Rosa parks was born on February 4 in Tuskgee, Alabama and died on October 24, 2005. She was an African-American civil rights activist who played a major role in promoting racial equality. As a child, her mother was a schoolteacher who taught her the values of equality and freedom, and she initiated a major national campaign against sexual assault of black women. Rosa Parks, then a seamstress, made her name on December 1, 1955, in the midst of segregation when she courageously refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man, as Claudette Colvin did at the age of 15, nine months earlier, which she herself had defended. She was arrested and fined $15, after a pastor named Martin Luther King protested by launching a boycott against the bus company that lasted 381 days. On November 13, 1956, the Supreme Court struck down the segregation law on buses. During these events Rosa Parks and her husband lost their jobs and had difficulty finding work.
