Wisconsin is a U.S. state. It is located in the north central of the United States. It is bordered by lakes to the east and the north-east.

The state capital is Madison and its largest city is Milwaukee. The current governor is Scott Walker.

It is the 23rd largest state and the 20th most populous. There are actually 5 770 000 people there.

The state is divided into 72 counties. Wisconsin is known as « America’s Dairyland » because it is one of the nation’s leading dairy producers, particularly famous for cheese.

The Wisconsin motto is « forward« .

A little of history… The word « Wisconsin » originates from the name given to the Wisconsin river by one of the Native American tribes named Chippewa. The first European to visit what became Wisconsin was a French explorer. He founded the Green Bay colony. In 1763, Great Britain won control of the region following the French and Indian war. Wisconsin became the 30th U.S. state in the 29th of May in 1848.

  Sports… Wisconsin is represented by major league teams in three sports: football, baseball, and basketball. Lambeau Field, located in Green Bay, is home to the National Fotball league’s Green Bay Packers. The Milwaukee Brewers, the state’s only major league baseball team play in Miller Park in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association play home games at the Bradley Center.
