JR- Street art

Jr was born on the 22nd February in 1983 in France. After finding a camera in Paris, he travelled in Europe to meet those who express themselves on walls and facades.

He  exhibits freely in the street of the world, catching the attention of people who are not typical museum visitors.

In 2016,  he was invited by the Louvres and made the famous pyramid disappearing through a surprising anamorphosis.  As he remains anonymous and doesn’t explain his huge full frame portraits of people mankind faces.

JR leaves the space empty for a meeting between the subject/protagonist and the passer-by/interpreter.
That is what JR’s work is about raising questions…

In 2013, JR got his first museum restropectives in Tokyo.
