Hello,
I went to visit Dublin Castle with my parents this weekend
Dublin Castle, a place where Irish history has been built for over 1000 years.
In this place, the queens or kings held court, Irish presidents were sworn in and old orders were swept away by rebellion and revolution.
From 1204 to 1922, Dublin Castle was the center of British rule in Ireland. It served everything from a royal palace and a parliament to a prison. The original medieval castle was built on the site once and
it occupied roughly the same position as the current main courtyard. This stone fortress survived until 1684, when much of it was ravaged by fire. Over the following decades, it was gradually replaced by this one by the lavish building you see today.
On January 16, 1922, British rule finally ended here when control of the castle was handed over to General Michael Collins.
That’s all for now!
