Cooking Class

During this trip we were able to taste some typical regional and American dishes. Indeed, after visiting the university we were able to take an active part in the American cooking class. One of these famous dishes was cornbread. This typical American dish is not very famous in France which allowed us to discover quite a different taste from the typical French bread. Then we learnt to cook the White Lightning Chicken Chili. This fantastic spicy soup is amazingly simple and extremely fast to make. This preparation was probably the most appreciated one, along with the last dish. The last preparation is a famous chocolate brownie. This rather widespread dish is a delight for everyone, young and old alike and did not have time to cool down……to be eaten .

But one of the parts that everyone has probably enjoyed the most was tasting. The soup and corn bread mixed quite well and because the brownie was still hot and melting, it was quite a delight to our taste buds. Unfortunately, after eating our filling we moved on to the less popular part of any cook, cleaning, and storage.

To conclude we can say that this activity led by fantastic people was very interesting to discover new dishes unknown in France and the atmosphere was so pleasant that we could share a good laugh during the preparation of these different dishes.

Flying of Saturday 8th February 2020

After several months of efforts to make our trip to the United States a reality, the big day had arrived.

We all got together in the castle parking at 3 : 45 a.m and we left Saumur by bus at 4 a.m.

We arrived at Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport at 8 : 30 a.m. We started to check in luggage. It was a pretty stressful moment.

We boarded the plane at 11 a.m (french hour of course) and after that we took off and we left France.

The flight was veryyy long, it was 8 hours long. We went over Greenland, it was so beautiful !

Then, we landed at Chicago at 2 p.m (local hour). And we had a five-hour stepover. So we waited, did little exercices that the teachers had prepared for us and we played cards.

The 5 hours were also very long, we were eager to arrive, we were very excited to meet our host families.

But the second domestic flight that we took was smaller. And it was a mechanical problem that made us a little late.

I think we all slept during this flight it was a long and exhausting day !

And then we landed in Asheville at 10.30 p.m ! We arrived in the airport and we met finally our host families, it was so emotional to discover them.

They were waiting for us with signs and our name writting on it, it touched us a lot. We felt confortable and waited. We were very well received.

Then we got our bags and we all separated and we left with our families.
