Studying and living in Caen

A great place to live

Located within 12 km of the Norman coast, Caen is a port city, linked to the English Channel via its sea canal.

Chosen by Guillaume le Conquérant for establishing his seat of power, it has kept its medieval heritage. In the heart of downtown, the Ducal Castle is one of the greatest fortified enclosure in Europe.

Caen spreads out around a vibrant pedestrian heart. Among the many craft and commercial stores, there is a high concentration of general-purpose and specialist bookshops.

In the evening, the bustling parts extend between the old district and the yacht harbour. The atmosphere is young, familial, and touristic.

Recognized for the quality of its parks and gardens and for its environmental initiatives, Caen has an outstanding green heritage.

Nearby, the « côte de Nacre » makes us enjoy the sea and offers another range of sport and leisure activities.

With a strong academic tradition, Caen welcomes more than 30000 students, 29 000 of whom in the University of Caen-Normandy.
