The Shining is a movie by Stanley Kubrick.
Kubrick is one of my favorite film directors. The storie comes from a novel of Stephen King (american writer) which is called The Shining too.
Jack Torrance has to keep a hotel during the winter, when it’s close. However, the last keeper killed his wife and his two girls but Jack doesn’t care. He wants to keep this hotel with his wife and his son Danny.
Danny seems to know many things about this hotel and he has got a lot of bloody visions.
During the movie, there are more and more strange things. At the beginning nobody is worry except Danny, but his mother becomes scared because of Jack, who becomes more and more aggresive, strange and mad…
Kubrick succeed in making a scary and oppresive atmosphere thanks to the loneliness in this big hotel, it reminds us a kind of labyrinth.
It’s a very good movie, you should watch it ! (except if you are fearful…)
I love Stephen King and I also love this film,mainly thanks to Kubrick and Jack Nicholson who is a great actor.Generally speaking I like the adaptations of King’s novels, my favourite one being Misery especially because I like the way James Caan plays ( kathy Bates was great too.)
Yes, Misery is a very good movie and novel, it is quite scary mainly the character of Annie Wilkes. Stefen King is an amazing writer !
I didn’t watch this movie, but I have begun to read some Stephen King’s book and I am quite fearful so.. I am not hurried to see it !
I like Stephen King ! I watch « The shinning » and « Misery », they are very well. The adaptations of King’s novels are good. I don’t read « Misery » but I think that it can interesting. I find that the ambiance is worrying and scary… It’s so amazing !
I agree with you, this film is so amazing probably thank’s to the incredible talent of Kubrick. But , For me, « a clockwork orange » is definitely his masterpiece!
I saw this moovie, and I loved a lot it! The atmosphere is very scary and the roles are interpreted well; and the story is good! I really recommand you to watch it!
I confirm! this movie is really great, the actors play extremely well and the story is original. It is unfortunate that there are not much movie like this.
Jack Nicholson is just so scary in this movie ! He plays very well the role of a psychopath ! And the twins ! This scene just frightened me !
