the French for this idiom is : on ne juge pas un livre par sa couverture ! Ce qui signifie on estime rien avant de savoir à quoi on a affaire.

Thank you for your comment Noé. In fact, in French, the expression would be « l’habit ne fait pas le moine », we don’t talk about book and book cover in English.
