The Coperni spray dress worn by Bella Hadid

Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant are the designers behind the haute couture house Coperni. For their show at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022, they pushed the boundaries of fashion beyond the imagination, using the spray-on technique developed by Fabrican, a company founded by Spanish fashion designer and scientist Manel Torres.

Bella Hadid, one of the world’s most popular models, was chosen to wear Coperni’s spray-on dress at the presentation of the collection.

The spray dress was created live in front of an audience, with Manel Torres, the scientist behind the project. He used a special spray that contains molecules that bind together to form a solid fabric. The dress was created in a matter of seconds, in front of the eyes of the impressed spectators, who simply sprayed Bella Hadid with a white product, which according to Vogue Business, is a liquid containing cotton and synthetic fibres combined with a polymer solution, which transforms into fabric on contact with the skin sprayed with a spray gun directly on to the body. After contact with the skin, the substance transforms into a fabric that is ready to be worn and can be reused. In front of a group of scientists, Hadid was sprayed with a white liquid that instantly transformed into a dress.

The performance went viral on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
