The prestigious routes of Santiago de Compostela

Hello everyone
According to legend, after Pentecost, Saint James undertook a mission of evangelization in Spain. He landed on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia, and from there headed for Galicia, a region in the extreme north-west of the Iberian Peninsula. After several years of preaching, he returned to Jerusalem, where he was tragically beheaded. Two of his faithful followers then took his body and placed it in a boat, braving the elements by setting sail.

Driven by the wind and sea currents, the boat eventually ran aground at the bottom of an estuary in Galicia, where the town of Iria Flavia, now known as Padrón, was later founded. The two disciples of Saint James chose to bury his body inland, in a place that would later become the city of Santiago de Compostela.

There are several ways to make the pilgrimage, the main one being the GR65. It runs from Le Puy-en-velay to the city of Santiago de Compostela. But there are also pilgrimages to Portugal, Jerusalem…

Welcome back!

LCE pupils, this blog is YOUR BLOG! You are going to make it live as much as you can! You will have to write articles quite often on different subjects and create games to make your classmates play with, on the subjects we are working on.

I really hope you will like it! Make the most of it! It’s YOUR BLOG!

Your first mission with this blog will be to create the NEW image of the blog.

You will have to do a « montage » of images of English-speaking countries and you will publish it on a padlet. To go on this padlet, you can click on the widget « Blog image challenge » on the right of this page. Then, on padlet, everyone is going to vote for the best montage, and I will put it to change the current image of this blog!

Let’s have a nice year together!

Powerscourt Estate and gardens

Powerscourt Estate and garden is located in Enniskerry. We visited it in the late afternoon. It is a very beautiful place, calm and relaxing. Inside there are different types of gardens, Italian, Japanese but also French. We are proud of inspiring other countries. But there are also statues like the statue of the winged horses which I found very impressive and realistic. I will keep a spectacular memory of this wonderful garden.

Dublinia Museum

We really enjoyed the Dublina Museum as it was very entertaining and interactive. There were many representations of everyday life in the Vikings period. We learned lots of things! We even felt like we were living with them!

Epic Museum ☘️

Epic Museum is a museum in Dublin which explain the immigration at the 19th century and the culture of Ireland.

We have seen differents rooms during the visit. Some were talking about the food, the sports, the music and dance. Some others were talking about the arriving in a new world the conflicts and the history of Ireland.

We liked this museum because we learned many thing about several subjects complicated with the conflict and the famine or not with the tradition in Ireland like the famous beer and parade of St Patrick. You can surely find a subject you have interest in .

Across the museum the rooms change with the decorations the music or the way to learn the room’s subject, it puts you in the mood. To remember and to check if you have done every room you have a little passport that you stamp across the museum. It is very interactive so you don’t get bored.
