Microsoft was created In New Mexico in Albuquerque by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. The two men created some technlogic items like computers or phones and after they created lots of softwares. After several years, Microsoft became the most important creator of softwares. The most famous softwares are: Windows, x-box, activision, blizzard, King (candy crush) and Mojang.

Who is St Andrew ?
St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland from one thousand years.
Andrew was one of Jesus’ first disciples.
Andrew was very sad when Jesus died.
He wanted to tell everyone about Jesus.
He travelled to lots of countries and became the patron saint of Romania, Greece, Russia, Ukraine and Poland.
Patron saints are considered as holy individuals who protect people or places.
He was a fisherman and one of Jesus’ first Apostles.
He was sentenced to death by crucifixion by the Romans in Greece, but asked to be crucified on a diagonal cross as he felt he wasn’t worthy to die on the same shape of cross as Jesus.
This diagonal cross is now used on the Scottish flag – the Saltire.
The story says that Scottish people are descended from an ancient population called the Scythians, who lived on the Black Sea (this is now Romania and Bulgaria).
St Andrew converted them to Christianity.
How did he become the patron Saint of Scotland ?
He became the patron saint of Scotland many years after he died.
According to a legend, a Greek monk called Regulus had a dream in which he was told to carry the bones of St. Andrew to the end of the Earth.
But why ?
Because Scotland was so far from Greece that Regulus thought it was the end of the Earth.
His boat landed on the East Coast of Scotland. He buried St Andrew’s bones and built a church on top.
And now the village has been renamed St Andrew.
St Andrew was officially named the patron saint of Scotland in 1320.

St. Andrew on that date.
St Andrew’s Day is also a holiday in Scotland but considering that is not a law, so some people will still go to work!
But what is this celebration in this Celtic country?
On this occasion, the churches are full.
There are numerous commemoration and especially cultural and culinary celebrations.
Normally, celebrations might include a special type of party called a « kay-lee” where people do Scottish country dancing.
This celebration is much appreciated by the Scottish who put on their kilt and make-up their face in blue and white. It’s also appreciated by the tourists.
To take advantage of saint Andrew’s Day which marks the beginning of winter festivals, it is possible to go to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Oban, Irvine and of course, Saint-Andrews…
Some traditional dishes are savored accompanied with local beers.
The most famous traditional food eaten, is the cullen skink – which is a type of fish soup.

New Year’s Eve and New Year
New Year’s Eve is the night before the New Year, on December 31st. During this day, people eat a good meal like foie gras and wait and watch television to see the fireworks at midnight.
New Year is celebrated on January 1 and at midnight in all countries of the world.
Julius Caesar decided in 46 BC the new year begins on January 1.
Mistletoe and holly come from ancient beliefs.
During New Year, we usually eat foie gras, turkey, and we drink champagne (for adults of course).
At midnight people shout: « Happy New Year, and good health! ».
Then, people usually wear evening wear.

What is Easter ?
Easter is the most important day for Christian. It’s indeed, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But, nowadays, it’s a day where families gather to find chocolates eggs in there gardens (that the parents just hid).
Why is it celebrated ?
For some churches, Easter is the end of the Lent Season. It’s a season where people are fastening so they eat less sugar and food. It’s also the Accomplishment of propheties and the defeat of the death on christians.
When is it celebrated ?
It was Celebrated on Sunday April 17th. The date is based on the luni-solar calendar and it’s always on Sundays.

Easter is celebrated everywhere around the world.
How is it celebrated ?
Easter is mostly celebrated with chocolate eggs hidden by the easter bunny but there are many other ways to celebrate it . For example in Germany the eggs are hidden in a straw nest. In France, 5 000 eggs are cooked to do an omelette but in some countries we look in the sky for colorful kites or rockets. But in Lebanon we offer colorful chicks to kids even if the chicks are mistreated.

Pancake Day
Shrove Tuesday, translated as Mardi Gras in French, comes from the verb to shrive, which means « to obtain absolution for one’s sins by going to confession ».
Shrove Tuesday is now better known as Pancake Day, for the delicious little golden pancakes we are used to bake.
The Origin of Pancake Day
The festival of religious origin, therefore, seems today to be more particularly a gourmet festival.
“Pancake day” takes place the day before the start of Lent.
It was traditionally the day when all Christians had to go to confession and when they ate all the rich foods forbidden during Lent. The eggs, butter and fat that remained in the house were used to make pancakes, hence the name “Pancake Day”.

This day is celebrated in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of the United States.
When is it celebrated?

On this day, families and friends gather to prepare and eat sweet or savory pancakes.
During Pancake Day, the British organize pancake races, during which a large number of people dress up and run with a pancake in their pan. The goal of the race is to be the first to arrive at the finish line with the pancake in your pan by throwing the pancake while running. This tradition is said to have its origins in the 15th century when a British housewife busy making her pancakes, lost track of time, and when she heard the church bells she ran to the church with his pan and his pancakes.
