Le style indirect sert à rapporter les paroles de quelqu’un.
Il faut : – changer tous les pronoms
ex: « I am worried about my future » she said
he said she was worried about her future.
– changer les temps
correspondance des temps : présent ————preterit
preterit————-plu perfect
present perfect—-plu perfect
futur —————conditionnel
– changer les expressions de temps :
yesterday ———the day before
last night———-the night before
tomorow———-the day after
next week———the week after
ex: »I went to the cinema yesterday »
She said she had gone to the cinema the day before
QUESTIONS EN WHO/WHAT SUJET
ex: « Who told you such a thing? » he asked me
He asked who had told me such a thing
WHO étant sujet,il reste à sa place devant le verbe.
ex: « What is going to happen to him » She wondered.
She wondered what was going to happen to him.
WHAT étant sujet, il reste à sa place devant le verbe.
QUESTIONS EN WH. NON-SUJET
ex « When are you leaving? » , she asked me.
She asked me when I was leaving.
« Whose book is it? » , she asked.
She asked whose book it was.
« How long will it take? », she asked.
She asked how long it would take.
La phrase au style indirect n’étant plus une question, chaque mot reprend sa place normale
c’est à dire :Sujet Verbe Complément.
LES YES/NO QUESTIONS
ex « Is Paul your friend? »
She asked me if Paul was my friend.
Dans les phrases interrogatives avec l’auxiliaire DO, on supprime l’auxiliaire au SI.
ex « Do you know that man?
She wanted to know if I knew that man.
Pas de ? ni de » » au style indirect.
Les phrases impératives
-les phrases affirmatives:
ex « Go away! »
She told me to go away.
« Let’s go to the cinema! »
He suggested to go to the cinema.
