Pop Art

The expression was born in the 1950s. It is related to popular culture and is close to advertising, and comics. It uses commonplace subjects and objects such as street signs or cars. It is also linked to mass-media and consumerism.

Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, David Hockney and Peter Blake are famous artists who have contributed to the fame of pop art.
