May 8th is VE Day, that is to say Victory in Europe Day : people celebrate the end of the 2nd World War which happened on May 8th 1945, that is to say 75 years ago.
Queen Elizabeth II spoke on British television on May 8th at 9pm, exactly the same time her father, King George VI, gave his speech on may 8th 1945.
Watch her speech and look at the photo of King George VI on her desk.
Just a few weeks before, a 99-year-old Second World War veteran , Captain Tom Moore, raised more than £12m for the NHS (=National Health Service) by walking 100 laps of his garden using a zimmer frame.
